APPLY 2023

Applications are now CLOSED

Spend 1-2 weeks in the heart of the countryside on the Swedish Island of Gotland

Designers on Holiday 2023 is looking for creatives of all shapes and sizes from product designers to biologists. Applicants must be professionals in their field and no longer attending school, postgraduate or otherwise.

Applicants must have a desire to design, build, create and engage in site specific work that will add to the Designers on Holiday community. They must show a willingness to collaborate, learn and share skills with fellow attendees. They don't have to be a designer, just someone who wants to be involved.

Residencies duration 1-2 weeks for the period between 22nd of July and 5th of August, 2023.

Thematic residencies

Priorities will be given to the applicants who are interested to explore the local environment and ecology or propose ideas for sustainable development in a rural area, but we consider other proposals as well.

Theme for the year

Being the 7th year running, DOH 2023 will be a rebuilding year. The camp has not run since 2019 due to the global pandemic. There will be a number of large build projects as well as the opportunity for smaller self initiated ones.

This year will see DOH partner with Svensk Form focusing on a public facing event in the second week for designers from DOH and Gotland to come together and share stories and make friends.

Accommodation

Designers on Holiday offers all attendees either a standard issue camp tent that sleeps one or a small cabin. In some cases attendees can use their own tents. Mattresses and bottom sheets are provided, pillows and sleeping bags/ duvets, blankets and towels at attendees discretion. But can be arranged on the island.

Fees and Support

Expectations towards the attendees

Designers on Holiday expects all attendees to join in with the larger experience of the residency. Socializing and collaborating with their fellow attendees.
